This tour is nine days of pure magic that takes you past beautiful lakes, orchards and vineyards, to the mighty peak of the Matterhorn, over the breathtaking Nufenen Pass into the Italian speaking part of Switzerland, to the garden city of Lugano, along the romantic shores of Lake Como, and to Zurich – a grand and cosmopolitan city. This is a spectacular panoramic tour of Switzerland where, to not have your camera would be a terrible shame, as you will be seeing some of the most incredible scenery and landscapes of the world.

You will see the Rhine Falls, Europe’s biggest waterfall and a magnificent site. Take the adventure path, if you dare, with an elevator that goes from Laufen Castle to the outlook platforms and gives you an unobstructed view of this wonderful spectacle of nature.

  • 1 Geneva, sightseeing and attractions Start with a city tour of Geneva and see the beautiful parks along the lake, the Old Town with its cathedral, the unique town-hall, and the European seat of the United Nations. Geneva is a hub of diplomacy, shopping and business. Check out the Water Jet – it is Europe’s tallest fountain, spouting nearly 400 feet in to the air every second. At the International Museum of the Reformation and the Wall of the Reformers, you can trace the logic and history behind the Protestant Reformation, and learn about its key players. Explore the parkland in Geneva’s right bank, which provides the best views for seeing nearby Mont Blanc – the mountain is the tallest in Europe.
  • 2 Geneva – Montreux – Zermatt In the late morning, leave Geneva and drive to Lausanne and Montreux. Pass by Chillon Castle, the 13th century fortress, made famous by Lord Byron’s poem. In the afternoon, pass through the Valais, the valley of the river Rhone with its beautiful orchards and magnificent vineyards. At Tasch, board the cogwheel train that takes you to the mountain resort of Zermatt at the footy of the mighty Matterhorn.
  • 3 Zermatt – the Matterhorn Zermatt’s main attraction is the Matterhorn. Admire the quaint old farm houses and barns in their unique style, do some shopping, relax or take an optional cogwheel train up to Gornergrat for a spectacular viewof the surrounding snow-covered peaks. Zermatt is a car-free town and easy to explore. Visit the Matterhorn Museum for lots more information about the famed mountain. And St. Peter’s Church was built for English climbers seized by the desire to conquer the Matterhorn – there’s also a cemetery for those who didn’t make it. Why not bike the trails surrounding Zermatt – about 24km of downhill tracks have been pecifically set aside for the activity.
  • 4 Zermatt – Nuefen Pass – Lugano Board the train to Tasch and on by bus over the breath taking Nufenen Pass into the Italian speaking part of Switzerland, and on to the garden city of Lugano. Don’t forget to take your camera, the views today will be absolutely magnificent, and certainly worth lots of snapshots.
  • 5 Lugano, sightseeing and attractions On to Lugano – a vivacious city with chic boutiques, bars and pavement cafes within the twisting maze of steep cobblestone streets that flow through to the edge of Lake Lugano. Just on the border of Switzerlandand Italy, this beautiful glacial lake is surrounded by the majestic mountain peaks of Monte Bre, Monte San Salvatore and Monte Generoso. Get snapping with your cameras, the views here are wonderful. Walk around the lake to Paradisoand take the funicular that rises to Monte San Salvatore and see the fine views fromthe mountainside.
  • 6 Lugano – Lake Como – Maloja Pass – St. Moritz Depart Lugano and drive along the scenic road to Gandria where you will cross the border into Italy. Drive along the romantic shores of Lake Como via Menaggio to Chiavenna in the lovely Bregaglia Valley. In Castesegna re-enter to Switzerland start your ascent along the thirteen hairpinbends over the Maloja Pass. Passing by crystal blue Lake Sils and Silvaplana you will reach the world-renowned alpine resort of St. Moritz.
  • 7 St. Moritz, sightseeing and attractions St. Moritz is Switzerland’s original winter wonderland and the cradle of Alpine tourism – it has been luring royals and celebrities since 1864. You will be taken in by its shimmering aquamarine lake, its emerald forests, and its aloof mountains. Stroll around the town and visit the Engadiner Museum, a reproduction of the traditional sgraffitied home the museum has displays of furniture, tools and pottery in rooms that are decorated in styles from different periods.
  • 8 St. Moritz – Vaduz – Zurich Leave St. Moritz in the morning and cross the Fluela Pass to reach Davos. In the capital of Principality of Liechtenstein, Vaduz, there will be time for lunch and for sightseeing. This tiny country with the mighty castle, which is the home of the present Prince and his family, attracts visitors from allover the world. In the afternoon return to Zurich through the Toggenburg region with its picturesque Farmhouses.
  • 9 Zurich – Rapperswil – boat ride on Lake Zurich Zurich is much more than a banking capital. From impressive churches to awesome art collections, the city has much to offer culture vultures. The Great Church is a 12thcentury structure with 18th-century updates – the core spans the Carolingian to Gothic styles with one modern touch – Giacometti’s stained-glass window. The Stiftung Sammiung E.G Buhrie has a stunning array of Manets, Monets, and more (appointments only). And Zurich is a shopper’s paradise – walk along the Bahnhofstrasse for high-end boutiques, orhead for Niederdorf for the more trendy shops. Drive to Rapperswil, the town of the roses, where you will see the rose garden, the castle, and the deer park on the Lindenhof.
